The founders didn't write "a perfect Union." They wrote "a more perfect Union." That word — more — is everything. It means they knew we weren't finished. It means the American experiment was never meant to be a completed project. It was designed to be a continuous, evolving pursuit — generation after generation — to build something better than what came before.
That phrase has echoed through our history. Abraham Lincoln invoked it during the Civil War. Martin Luther King Jr. carried it through the streets of Selma. Barack Obama titled his most important speech after it. Every generation of Americans has been asked the same question: Will you help form a more perfect union?
This is your generation's turn. Don't lose heart. Don't lose focus. The work is not done — and it was never supposed to be.
Toward A More Perfect Union is America's digital town hall. We are a nonpartisan platform built on a simple belief: Americans have more in common than the news wants us to think.
We publish daily good news about progress happening across the country. We spotlight the issues where data shows Americans — left, right, and center — already agree. We honor the Americans, past and present, who showed us the best of who we are. And we provide a directory of civic organizations where you can answer the call and actually do something.
We are intentional about reaching across the aisle. We are not affiliated with any political party. Our only agenda is to close the gaps between us, find middle ground, and help this country become the greatest the world has ever seen.
